Starting 2019 With A Win!

After my first match of 2019 I’ve had the perfect start with a match win on the Tunnel Barn Winter League!

I’ve had a fantastic day’s fishing, catching 38 big F1s for 98lb from peg 27 on Jennys. I had 16 on bread, dobbing across to the reeds, and the rest in the deeper water on maggots, including a late run down the side. Double red maggot was best and they definitely responded to the noise of your feed as it was flat calm with no wind.

The only blip was losing an 8lb mirror at my feet after playing it for ages. Other than that I’ve had a half tidy match.

I fished a 4×10 Malman Dusty Titan with bread and Malman Secrets from 4×10 to 4×14 with maggots; both to 0.10mm Matrix Power Micron hooklengths, size 18 hooks and 8-10 Slik elastic.

My Team Dynamite quartet (Jack Danby, James Fowkes, Ben Sharp and myself) also came 3rd on the day out of 22 teams, which puts us joint 4th at the halfway stage.

Hopefully that’s the start of plenty more flyers to come this year!
