A Few Matches To Catch Up On

Quickish catch up. Made a midweek trip to Packington couple weeks ago and had a nice win with 245lb. A film from the day is up in my members area.

I also paid my first trip to Puddledock Farm for the MAP Pole Champs. Great looking venue and drew a good area in the 70s. It was a moody day but managed 105lb to qualify and was just 5lb off framing. Wouldn’t settle on pellets so swapped to meat and Sonubaits Natural Hemp tight over and that did the trick. Wanted to film this, but lost my camera clamp!

Went to Rookery for the Match This and had a tough day on Crow, which just seemed to switch off on the day. Then Tunnel for an open I had a decent day but no prizes. Highlight was the mid-match thunder and hailstorm!

Second round of the Matrix Commercial Champs was at Makins on Sunday and drew B4 on Derwent. First time I’ve fished this lake since it’s been redone, but managed to win the lake with 83lb. Mostly mugging and a few tight across in a tiny gap.

270lb lake win and 2nd on the UK Champs!

The Daiwa Pole Masters was this week and more moody fishing with hot conditions and angling pressure. I had a poor start on day 1, a lake win on day 2 and a section 3rd on day 3, which included 13lb Gary the ghost carp on a 0.12mm bottom. Just nice to be part of this excellent event run by Tunnel Barn and Catch More Media with terrific sponsorship from Daiwa. Well done Kieron Marsden who fished great to win it.

Round 1 of the UK Champs was at Makins yesterday with just eight anglers on each lake, so loads of room. I drew a great looking peg 4 on Lake 4 and had a good day with the MTX5 and mugging gear, catching 270lb to win the lake and came 2nd overall. Jamie Hughes won and Steve Ringer making a welcome return to the competition was 3rd.

Finally catching up with messages and dusting off the river gear today…
