Barston Bagging
Just the one match again at the weekend, which was the final round of the Matrix Commercial Champs, back at Barston. I drew peg 55 and had a cracking day catching 15 or 16 carp and a few skimmers on the bomb and bag for 147lb. Daft really as I never had a bite on the bag on Thursday on the opposite bank, but have since tweaked my approach. Anyway, that won the section and was 3rd overall behind Adam Wakelin’s 148lb off peg 115 and the ever consistent Max Higgott’s 155lb win from peg 13. A bonus was that those two anglers were stand-ins, so I picked up first place in the superpool for a very nice pickup!
My peg was a bit of a tight parrot cage so a short Horizon Pro 11ft Commercial was ideal, matched with a super smooth HX Pro 4000 reel. I caught best on an 8mm Sonubaits Bandum Wafter and pinged the ever-faithful 8mm Fin Perfects.
A big well done to Lee ‘Mushy’ Farmer for winning the league, Matrix for sponsoring it and, of course, Wayne Sharman for running such a great event.
