Carp, Cats & Bream On The Method!

On Sunday I fished my first ever match at Albans Lakes on the Feedermasters qualifier. I drew peg 39 on Willow, which was down the far end and in the middle of a long line of anglers with every peg in. It’s a really long specimen lake and with the wind hacking up towards the tackle shop end, everyone reckoned our zone would fish rock hard, which it did!

I’ve fed at 50m and down the edge and swapped between a method and a straight feeder. Three bites all day and three nice fish; a 5lb bream, a 7lb catfish and an 18lb 15oz carp. Hardly anyone weighed in my zone and I think my 31lb was 2nd behind Dave Berry, who qualified with two good carp and a catfish for 42lb. I was potentially just half a fish away by that lake’s standards! Very well done Wako, Dave and Robert Twardoski on qualifying.

Gearwise I’ve used Horizon Pro 12ft Distance Feeder rods paired with HX Pro 4000s and the new X7 hooks in a size 12. I’ve fed Sonubaits 50:50 Method & Paste Green and pellets doused in Krill & Squid Bait Booster.

Hard fishing but still enjoyed it and would definitely like another go as there’s some impressive fish swimming in it!
