Magic With Martin At Makins
Some pictures from a great time on the bank spent with Martin at the ever-impressive Makins Fishery!
We sat around the back of a busy Lake 3, hoping to catch on pole, bomb and waggler tactics.
The pole produced some early carp on hard pellet, then a swap to paste yielded a few more, but it was the margins that proved most effective on the day. The usually safe corn-and-pellet approach proved nowhere near as effective as paste down the edge. We later swapped to the successful meat tactics that helped me win an event at this venue recently, and that proved a good move as well.
Sadly, a lone chub was the only fish we could tempt on the waggler, but there were plenty of carp and F1s feeding on the deck, beneath our loose fed pellets on the lead rod.
Every fish had to be worked hard for in the hot weather, but Makins came up trumps once again!
