I had a really great morning on the river today, catching some lovely quality fish. I really needed that after a tough time on the Daiwa Pole Masters! An awful day one, a laughable second day and then a consolation 100lb on the third and final day. Oh dear!<\/p>\n\n\n

No point dwelling on it, though. I was naturally disappointed but getting quite philosophical in my old age. I always have a few matches every year where the wheels totally fall off and I just wasn’t good enough this year. Learn from it and move on. My biggest lesson was that even after lathering factor 50 on my ‘milk bottles’ I can still get sunburnt knees. Aftersun now very much required! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well done Mikey Williams on the win and all of the top 10, plus Andy Bennett for a stand-out performance on the last day catching 190lb from an unlikely peg.
