Almost springlike! On Saturday my good friend Dave very kindly invited me to fish a little match at Swan Farm Fishery in Leicestershire as his guest. A new venue for me and I was really impressed with how nice and well looked after it was.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-medium\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jonarthur.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/swan-farm-27lb.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"135\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jonarthur.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/swan-farm-27lb-135x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8006\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jonarthur.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/swan-farm-27lb-135x300.jpg 135w, https:\/\/www.jonarthur.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/swan-farm-27lb.jpg 288w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 135px) 100vw, 135px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It was a silvers match with carp counting as 8oz (they&#8217;re all 2lb+). I quite like that format as it still rewards you for getting them in on light tackle. I drew peg 11, which is a narrow channel between two bowls and it looked nice with a slight tinge. I managed six chunky mirrors late on, plus 24lb of silvers, for a 27lb total. Mostly chunky ide, plus little roach, gudgeon (first fish!), baby chub, skimmers and a 2lb bream. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My peg was about 13m wide and 4ft deep and I\u2019ve worked a couple of short and a couple of long lines with maggots and pinkies to keep bites coming. Great fishing for February and enough to win. Not been 100% myself all week, so it was just nice to get some bites on a new venue and fish with some really friendly guys. Everyone there said it had fished below par after the previous night&#8217;s rain, so it&#8217;s clearly got loads of potential for even better sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks Dave and crew for the invite! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pretty good weather and fishing last weekend.
