It was the David Hall Memorial yesterday at the Glebe. Sadly only 41 on it this year, but still nice to be there, seeing lots of people like myself who\u2019ve been part of what was once the mighty DHP empire. I was hoping to retain the beautiful bronze trophy, although I was partially glad to return it as it\u2019s so precious. It had a lovely dusty cobweb on it when I took it out my office, too! <\/p>\n\n\n

Sadly all hope of doing any good was quashed after drawing the middle of Lake 4, which was like the North Sea with the wind and tow absolutely tramming left to right. You could\u2019ve used a flat float if you were pole fishing! I had nine or 10 on the feeder across and four small ones very late down the side. Our lake\u2019s fished tough for the Glebe\u2019s standards, largely because of that relentless wind. <\/p>\n\n\n

I weighed 84lb, but didn\u2019t spot my keepnet had fallen in mid-match. I thought I\u2019d lost two good carp, but checked my camera footage and it was actually three. I simply hadn\u2019t clicked it onto my bar properly, clumsily knocked it in and never noticed for at least 40 minutes. Just one mishap after another with me lately… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wasn\u2019t too bothered, though, as after a couple of hours grimacing in that wind and constantly needing to wipe my eyes, plus not bringing any food, I wasn\u2019t particularly enjoying being sat there and was just going\u00a0through the motions. Still in good company with Rich Bedder entertaining me to my left with some lovely dorsal fin playing action and also nice to see Craig Wood win our lake from the end peg to my right.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A very big well done to in-form Mark Griffiths on the win with over 200lb from Lake 7. Lovely lad and a great angler. Thanks to David Haynes for running the match and the Glebe for having us all and, of course, raising plenty some money for MacMillan Cancer Support. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
