Father’s Day Finger

A nice weekend off with the family saw us having a long hike along the Thames for Father’s Day. Great to do a bit of fish spotting while the river’s so clear and weedy. Can’t believe how many roach were happily swimming right next to all the swimmers and paddle boarders.

Eventually stopped for a quick fish as I’d packed a tiny Temu telescopic whip, just in case… Soon catching a few bleak while watching some big perch arrive underneath them. Sadly never got time to catch a perch as a bit of a ‘family distraction’ saw a size 16 barbed hook wedge itself really deep in my middle finger!

In all my years fishing I’ve never had a hook so deep and so irretrievable! It took over an hour and a massive excruciating tug to finally free it and save me a long wait at A&E! No more fishing after that, but a well-earned pint in the pub followed.

Hope you all had a good weekend. Looks like this week’s set to be an absolute scorcher.
