The Next Generation!

Yesterday I was honoured to be at Lindholme Lakes for the UK Junior Championship, jointly sponsored by Matrix, Preston Innovations and Sonubaits.

I was very lucky to be sat with Hyrum Wilsher for the day. What a talented angler! He’s 17 and has fished for England at youth level and also now fishes for the famous Trentmen squad. I definitely don’t feel we had drawn the best of areas on the lake, but he still fished brilliantly, putting 70lb on the scales in just three hours.

From what I’ve witnessed he’s definitely a name to watch out for in the future. A great temperament, very skilful and equally at home on natural waters and commercials, which is great to see. Full credit to his mum and dad, too, for being so supportive!

Congratulations to the two winners, Charlie Hutchinson and Tyler Adam, with impressive weights from the 80s on Bonsai. All the juniors who took part fished great and were a credit to the sport. Lindholme Lakes very kindly donated the lake for free as well. I must also say a very big thanks to all the mums, dads, family members and guardians who transported, sat and supported them all the way!
