Winter Bingo Time Again!
It’s winter bingo time again! Sunday was the Packington Winter League and I was a bit gutted to draw peg 19 on Gearys. A nice summer peg…
Was never going to get a bite on the pole, so I just set up a couple of rods and made sure I had a full flask of tea. I had a carp and a skimmer for 6lb 10oz and halfway on the lake. Next door and the peg opposite both blanked. Well done Lee Richards winning the lake with 41lb from peg 33.
Saturday I ended my good run at Tunnel Barn after drawing peg 26 on Top Pool. Definitely not a peg I’d ever run to, summer or winter! Tea-coloured and a biting easterly wind didn’t help and it took over two hours to finally catch an F1. I was a bit lazy and unmotivated, but eventually pulled my finger out and put 20lb on the scales. Well done Shaun Little winning the match with 43lb from Extension. I think 34lb won my lake.
Today was the Packington Christmas Match with 92 fishing, so lots of lakes used and lots of anticipation and trepidation at the draw! As expected, it’s fished very tough, but I’ve managed a decent day on Molands peg 2. My 30lb was enough for a section prize and was the 7th best weight overall.
With Molands still tap-water clear I’ve caught everything on the feeder and maggots with a bit of Supercrush Green. Two bream, two carp and three F1s. Used my 11ft Ethos XR-S light feeder, which has a lovely, soft action that’s perfect for winter.
Runaway match winner was Paul Terry with a brilliant 121lb from peg 45 on Molands. In-form Lee Richards was 2nd with 80lb from Big Gearys and Dave Elliott was 3rd with 49lb off Little Gearys.
Many thanks to John Burchell and the Packington team for running this annual fixture.
