4th In The Fish South Silvers Final
The Fish South Silvers Final was on Saturday at a cold and windy Southend Farm. I had a decent day’s fishing on peg 12 (permanent peg 13) to put 40lb 1oz on the scales. That was enough for 4th overall and a nice £1,800 cheque. Really happy with that. Felt I fished a half decent match and was the best weight up my end of the lake. Some great anglers in my section, including Will Raison next door who won it last year.
Caught skimmers of all sizes on pellets plus a few fish down the side on casters and groundbait. Used 0.5g and 0.75g Matrix Finesse Slims in open water, 6-8 Slik and size 16 Matrix X2 hooks. Groundbait was the ever-faithful Sonubaits F1 and Thatchers combo. My sublime XTR 700 pole once again worked its magic, too!
Well done Andrew Crocker winning from an unfenced area, John Harvey 2nd a couple of anglers to his left and Callum Dicks 3rd from fancied peg 1. I think everybody wanted pegs 1 to 7 in the morning, so it was great to see good weights from all around the lake.
Must also say a big thanks to Jon Cook for running such a prestigious event, all the sponsors and Southend Farm for being a really great venue.
One more silvers match to go, then looking forward to a bit of carp and F1 fishing!
