Riverfest Finalist Again!

Yesterday I made my first ever trip to the River Avon at Twyning for my second Riverfest qualifier of the year. It sounded like it was going to be a bream or bust match to qualify, so I left the hemp at home and went with a positive worm and caster attack everywhere.

It was baking hot and with very little wind not many bream showed, but I managed four and some perch for 13lb from peg 46. That was 2nd overall, a zone win and my fourth consecutive Riverfest Final golden ticket!

It felt like there was nothing at all feeding in the deepest water in the searing temperature, so I’ve caught them on the short pole with a piece of worm over Sonubaits Method & Paste Green and Brown Crumb. Used size 16 and 14 Matrix X1B hooks and had to be careful with all the lilies in front of me, so I’ve used strongish 10-12 Slik elastic in my XTR700 pole.

A big well done to Paul Passmore who won the match with 17lb from the earlier numbers.
