A Prize At Patshull
I had a really lovely match on the Bait-Tech Feeder Masters qualifier at Patshull on Sunday. Only my second ever visit, but it’s a stunning venue and so nice to be sat out in the water reeling in a few fish.
I was on a shallow peg 23 in the middle zone and was told we’d probably struggle to beat the noted pegs much higher up. Fed a bit of grub miles out at the start, just in case, then settled down on a short 18-20m swim, winkling out mostly little skimmers. Biggest fish was an eel almost a pound. Had another little bootlace too, which was fun.
Great fishing with a little feeder and a ‘bit of everything’ mix of Sonubaits F1 Green, Thatchers, Sweet Skimmer and So Natural Lake. Used a pair of 11ft Ethos XR-S Light Feeders all match too, which were ideal.
My hard-earned 21lb 14oz was 5th on the day and got the section prize. Only needed another 1lb or so to frame, but we were all miles behind Mark Bartlett’s massive zone and match-winning 63lb of bream from the boat house!
Such a nice venue and refreshingly no “just follow a local” or 40 minutes of weed clearing either! Only wish it was 80 miles nearer!
