To An Amazing Friend
On Sunday I went and paid my respects to my fishing friend Dean Hancox to celebrate his life. What an amazingly happy, friendly, positive and motivated guy. Even after all he had been through I was astounded by his drive and positivity. Each time I visited him and video messaged him the conversation spanned all sorts of venues, places and memories. From fantastic tales of Evesham all the way back to our intrepid canal days so many years ago.
He was also extremely generous. Most people won’t realise it, but he donated loads to juniors and really wanted to support future anglers.
He and his partner Mel rang me just a day before passing to thank me for being a friend. I couldn’t believe it and was in pieces. I have to thank him from the bottom of my heart for being so kind, supportive and encouraging. I will never forget his unwavering positivity and an ability to keep smiling despite all he had been through.
Every time I see the river at Evesham I know he will be looking down at us all with that smile.
Rest in peace my friend.
