Last Day Of The School Holidays!
Most kids were back in their classrooms today after the long summer holidays, but for some reason my daughter’s teachers decided they needed an additional day off(?)… soooo we went fishing!
Dog Lane Fishery in Warwickshire was the perfect destination for a fun day. It’s a place I fondly grew up fishing as a kid and it’s an even better venue now. First job was to pop up the brolly for our two comfy chairs to tuck under. A 10ft Horizon Pro Feeder was quickly set up with a 7.5g In-line Pellet Bomb and we were ready for action in no time.
I (wrongly!) assumed fishing a simple straight lead and firing in 6mm pellets might be a ‘relaxing’ way to spend the day! Well I was up and down like a yoyo while Katie was bladdering 6mm Fin Perfects all over the lake with her new Matrix ‘slingshot’ toy!
We were into fish from the off. Nothing massive, but great fun. Catching pretty mirrors, commons and ghosties, plus some chunky roach and skimmers.
Katie’s face after having a surprise visit from Grandad was brilliant and Nanny had made us a fabulous packed lunch, bless her!
She soon got to grips with playing every fish while Grandad and I chipped in with the netting duties. It was a frantic and shattering day for me, but worth it. I imagine the rest of the lake were pleased for some peace and quiet once we left, though!
My little fisher lady was soon asleep on the journey home. Maybe dreaming of the big one that got away? More likely she was dreaming about being a pink Power Ranger. Back to school tomorrow!
