A Double Lake Winning Weekend
A couple of nice results at the weekend. Saturday was the teams of four at Tunnel Barn and I’ve had a great day on Extension, winning the lake and 2nd in the match with 93lb off peg 5. Lots of bites all day on bread and maggots, including some of the new little mirrors.
Fished my XTR700 with the 2m short kits and 8-10 and 10-12 Slik worked perfectly. The team ended up 4th and we’re still in the race with not many points separating the top six teams.
Sunday was the 5th round of the Solihull Angling Silvers at Packington. I was back on Big Gearys and very happy drawing peg 11 on the high bank, which is normally the best area.
Miserable wet weather all day and just had maggots, pinkies and Sonubaits Supercrush Green on the sidetray. Two skimmers early on the feeder, then just fished pretty much one rig all day on the pole over three lines, which was a Matrix 0.4g Finesse Slim.
It’s been a busy old match, catching lots and lots of very little skimmers and just one big proper one late. Had to have your wits about you, though, as the resident hungry heron was after everyone’s fish!! It had one of Mark’s skimmers next door and swooped down every time it spotted someone playing one. Clever/lazy bugger!
I’d caught plenty of little skimmers but really didn’t think they’d go anywhere near the 21lb I recorded for a very pleasing lake win. No catch pic as it got so dark I would’ve needed a torch!
One more round on moody Molands to go, hoping to draw on some of the newly stocked bream. Well done Lee Myers winning that lake with 40lb of them!
Oh and I also fished a little feeder-only knock-up on the Friday at Meadowlands. A bitterly cold day with a hard frost in the morning, so it fished extra tough. Really messed about trying a few things and winkled out one proper carp and some beautiful little stockies for 28lb, which was just behind a 31lb and a 33lb winning weight.
