Two More Lake 2nds

A couple of lake 2nds again this weekend. Saturday back on the teams-of-four at Tunnel Barn. Thankfully no ice this week.

I drew a nice peg 13 on Top and hoped to have a days dobbing, but it was a bit too windy for that. Still managed three carp and three F1s on it and was fun hoisting them out the weeds!

Had a few F1s fishing long towards the pot and a nice end down the edge on maggot over Sonubaits Supercrush Green and Expander. Used 2m Short Kits again with red 10-12 and green 8-10 Slik being ideal.

Weighed 53lb with Aidan Mansfield winning the lake with 57lb from 30A. Teamwise we had three good results out of four and are still in the hunt in a very close league.

Sunday was the Packington Winter League and I was all prepped for a tough day on Molands with plenty of food and drink and a prayer mat! I really fancied peg 60, but ended up next door on 58, so not too bad.

I was hoping 60 hadn’t been drawn, but Roy Beasley eventually turned up very late to dash my hopes. He’s fished a great match, catching some big carp and F1s, all on the lead, for a match-winning 66lb.

I’ve still had a decent day, catching three carp, six F1s and a bream for 45lb. One on the lead and the rest on the maggot feeder. Used a 10ft Horizon Commercial Bomb, 6lb XD Mono and a little 15g Matrix Inline Maggot Feeder with a Swivel Stem.

Nice to catch a few fish on what’s been a tough and extra clear lake this winter.
