Rod Flexing At Packington

Went to Packington yesterday for the open on Gearys. I drew peg 24, which is up the shallower end. It looked promising with a few shapes cruising about while setting up. Mugged an 8lber within seconds before a chilly breeze whipped up. I missed two more opportunities and that was it on that tactic.

Really quiet on the bomb, so fished a large Open Alloy feeder into the corner and had some good carp on that up to 12lb, then bizarrely two big branches in two chucks, casting in the same spot. Proper specimen sticks!

A nice run down the edge with the help of a bit of Sonubaits Match Method Mix helped me to 82lb, 4th on the day and a section envelope.

Surprised how cold it was by the end of the match. The ducks were an absolute menace, too. Constantly under my box stealing bait while other’s had top kits and rods flying away! Never seen ducks so brazen and fearless as the ones at this place!

It was great to finally flex my new 10ft Horizon X Ultra Pro Commercial Feeder. A sublime rod for venues like this. The trusty XTR 400 also had another good workout with red 18-20 Slik effortlessly steering some big carp away from the snags.
