Wet Wet Wet

A rather wet and windy weekend plus a lovely hailstorm to sit through on Saturday! The fishing has been pretty rubbish as it’s suddenly gone a bit colder. However I managed a nice bonus 7lb barbel on the official Riverfest Final practice match to help me to 5th place overall and a nice pickup. The whole river had switched off, other than Brad Titmus who obliterated the field with 60lb of barbel, which is what we’ll all be praying for next weekend! The Rack dominated the rest of the frame for those lucky enough to get some bites.

Sunday I was hoping for a nice draw on the final round of the Matrix Commercial Champs, but sadly found myself on peg 40. I couldn’t have drawn much worse really. Still felt confident with my PVA bag tactics, but there was clearly not a lot in our area in open water and the fish I caught were all at range and on the small side. Ended up with six carp, five F1s and six skimmers for 52lb and 3rd in section. Needed a 2nd to keep me in the top eight prizes, but it wasn’t to be this year. Still a great and really well run league with some top anglers fishing it.

Thanks to Wayne Sharman for running it and a very big well done to Neil Carless for winning the match with over 200lb from peg 123, which secured him a well deserved league title. My fishing kit’s almost dry now…
