Winter League Highs And Lows
Two winter leagues at the weekend. Saturday I drew a peg I really wanted. Sunday a peg I definitely didn’t want!
Managed another lake win and 2nd overall on the bounce in the Tunnel Barn teams-of-four. Been wanting to draw House 31 for a few years and finally got it. It’s a lot wider and less reeds than I remember! After a slow start, catching just two gudgeon early doors, the peg’s got stronger and stronger. Had some jurassic F1s and a couple of bonus common carp in my 106lb total. Just a great day’s maggot fishing, short and long. Loving the new Matrix 2m kits on this venue.
Mixed fortunes again teamwise but we were 3rd on the day and still 3rd in the league, just seven points adrift of the top.
Sunday back to Packington on the individual and my turn to be on the two little Siblings lakes. Gutted to draw 17B, which is the end peg on the horseshoe and always feast or famine. Was told the aerator had been on all night, so feared the worst and it’s fished as grim as expected. I’ve had two big F1s on bread, lost a foul-hooker and then just a few roach. My 9lb was still amazingly 5th in the 11 pegs!
Elsewhere it’s fished OK with Molands finally showing its potential and dominating the frame with several good weights all around scarecrow point. I had a great session on that lake earlier in the week, putting a nice film together, catching some quality bream and tench. Check it out on my YouTube Channel if you haven’t already.
