Hero To Zero
Just as I feared and half-expected today, hero to zero! I’ve only had one decent result on the Packington Winter League all season and was dreading being back on Siblings. I drew 2A and it was the clearest I’ve ever seen it. In fact I could see big dollops of white goose poo on the bottom a top kit out!
Still thought I might catch a few fish, though, but alas it was even harder than I feared. I had one F1 on bread, a foul-hooked mirror carp and a few silvers for a whopping 3lb 15oz!
I cannot say there were no fish in front of me, though, as I’ve seen at least 50 carp swim by throughout the day! Even saw a dozen fish opposite me with their backs tickling the surface at one point. I got five metres away from them with a long-line mugging/dobbing rig and the surface erupted! Once the rain came down with two hours to go I never saw another fish swim by though…
Meanwhile I had the pleasure of watching the master Lee Richards on 5A catching carp by fishing towards peg 6’s direction, catching a few on the bomb and a few on the pole. He won the lake easily with 40lb. Martin Wood won Sibs B with 30lb. I was a big-fat last on the lake, but only 14lb was 3rd, so I’m still scratching my head as to what I should have tried… maybe some goose poo paste?
