36lb Of Silvers For Nowhere

It’s not very often you catch 36lb in a silverfish match and know you’ve done no good! Barston is that kind of venue though. AT Silverfish Qualifier yesterday and my skimmers were on the small side with too many quiet spells, not helped by all the carp boshing in our area. Beautiful weather for October, though, ending up in a t-shirt and sunglasses. Would’ve been an awesome pellet waggler day!

I was on peg 51 and felt I had a good chance of some better fish as it’s 5ft deep, but sadly it was the complete opposite. Hoped to catch on pellets, but maggot and groundbait was better. My usual F1 Original and Thatchers combo seems ideal at the mo.

Fished a 0.5g Matrix F1 Slim with the new XTR700 at 13m and double shipping a lot as the path was rather busy on the day.

I think there were 17 weights over 30lb! Matt Godfrey just pipped me for the section prize, but we were well behind Lee Kerry and Adam Wakelin who qualified with 59lb and 62lb. Great fishing.
