Pole Champs Finalist
I fished the UK Pole Championship qualifier run by Match Fishing magazine and Preston Innovations today at Packington Fishery. I was on peg 5 on Siblings A and half fancied it for a few as I’ve done well on the peg before.
Thought it’d be a simple match of sacking up shallow and short, but it turned out to be a really tricky day, getting snagged up, sheared off and trashing rigs left right and centre! The fish wouldn’t leave the clumps of reeds and I couldn’t catch anything off the deck, so I had to go in the rushes after them. Every fish I hooked fought like a demon! Might’ve swore once or twice too…
Ended up with 45lb, almost everything on maggots over a bit of Sonubaits Supercrush Expander, F1 and Supercrush Green. Thankfully enough to qualify for the Final and surprisingly enough to win the lake. Phew!
All the other lakes fished much much better and very well done to Matrix star Aidan Mansfield on the match win with 184lb from peg 15 on Little Gearys.
