194lb At Packington

Just had two very nice days shallow fishing! Today I’ve been on the Matrix Champs at Packington and won Molands Lake off peg 15 with 194lb. That was 3rd in the match behind Warren Jennings and Phil Canning who both had over 200lb from Little Gearys.

I had some huge F1s to over 6lb, plus a big 2lb+ crucian on my last cast. All were on the pole shallow with casters. Someone apparently weighed an 11lb F1 on our lake today, too! Oh and I also caught an F1 shallow and somehow netted it to find someone’s catapult threaded halfway up my rig. How does that happen?!

Yesterday I drew a very average peg 33 on High Pool at Woodland View on the Golden Reel qualifier. Again I caught shallow with casters for 101lb, beating the anglers around me but way behind Steve Openshaw’s 185lb winning weight off Arles 34. He was on the lake directly behind me and every time I looked around he was playing a fish… or a duck. Think he’d caught the whole feathered family by the end but no fairground prizes!

A vid from Packington will be up soon, so watch this space!

Hope you all had an eventful weekend too!
