Bristol Bagging!
Yesterday was a breath of fresh air as one of my subscribers, John Kiddle, very kindly invited me to Bristol Docks for one of his friendly knock ups. This place has always been on my bucket list, so I jumped at the chance!
Parked up, got a selfie with a Banksy (Girl With A Pearl Earring met Jon With A Red Disgorger!) then had such a simple one-rig day, crashing in several kilos of Sonubaits’ finest Black Roach, River and Sweet Skimmer, crunching out quality silvers on a 14 hook!
It was a much slower start than everyone expected and at the three-hour interval I’d probably only had 8lb. After tucking in to a King’s feast of snacks we returned to our pegs and the big roach, dace and skimmers had turned up – plus even bigger rain clouds! I ended up with 34lb for the win with 28lb second, which included a surprise 3lb carp.
I had a long, damp, two-hour, stop-start journey home but it was worth it as I absolutely loved the day. Great venue, fabulous silverfish sport and more importantly a great bunch of lads. Thanks John! Hopefully it’ll make a nice film, so watch this space…
