My Boddington Champs Final

Yesterday I fished the AT & CRT Stillwater Champs Final at Boddington Reservoir. I pulled out peg 89, which was paper pegged and placed me just before the gate. Although I don’t know the venue too well I quite fancied it.

Well, I ended up catching about 20 carp for 65kg (145lb) and came absolutely nowhere! At the other end of the section there was a 160kg (350lb) winning weight, 140kg next to him and a 120kg! Amazingly, these pegs also had much less room than us, so it must’ve been heaving!

I caught everything on the waggler, fishing anything up to 3.5ft deep. It was really slow going for the first few hours, and nothing on the deck, but swapping to bigger 11mm Dynamite Carp Pellets made a massive difference on the day. The last 90 minutes were pretty frantic, as the guys to our left must’ve finally let some through! I must say I really enjoyed the day and fancy fishing this place a bit more…
