Tunnel Barn Winter League Runners Up 2019!
Tenth and final round of the Tunnel Barn Teams of 4 Winter League today. Two good pegs and two dodgy ones for our Team Dynamite quartet. Luckily I was on a good one(!) in the shape of Extension 37, which is always a decent area in winter.
I’ve had a lovely day’s fishing to weigh 56lb exactly, which was 2nd on the lake behind Matt Bingham who had 10oz more off peg 4! I’ve also come 4th overall in my big 22-man section and 9th overall in the match, taking the last prize in the individuals.
I’ve caught everything on maggot after a biteless dob around with bread. A few early at 13m in 6ft of water, including a bonus 7lb common, then a run of fish in just over 3ft of water at 16m. I’ve also managed 15 stockies down the edge before running out of fish with 90 minutes to go. It didn’t look like the short-pole swim was going to take off, so I replumbed a new 13m swim. That worked a treat and I suddenly found some F1s again for a great final 30 minutes.
My best two rigs were 4×10 and 4×14 Malman Secrets, swapping between 8-10 Slik, 0.10mm and an 18 pellet hook and a lighter rig with 6-8 Slik, 0.09mm and a 20 hook.
Teamwise we’ve had a great day, too, with Jack Danby, James Fowkes and Ben Sharp all coming back with good points to earn us 2nd overall on the day. More importantly that secured us 2nd place in the league behind Southwest Allstars.
A brilliant result, a great payout and we’re all chuffed to bits!
