Carping In A Blizzard

The weather forecast looked ok(!) so I booked on to the Makins open on Phase 3 yesterday. Pulled out end peg 1 on Derwent, right by the car park. Hoped I’d catch one or two but I really wanted to be right up the other end, which proved bang on.

I caught 19lb but never had a bite once the blizzard arrived. Just 22lb was 4th in the continental payout, so I was one bite away. Think a big 50lb won from the other end of the lake where it sounded like the carp were all hiding under a big ice sheet.

I’ve probably left half my gear behind as I struggled to find it all under the snow afterwards! A day to sit in a hot bath and question one’s sanity…
