£1,000 For 48lb Of Skimmers

Today was the Angling Trust Silverfish Final with 50 anglers at Meadowlands. The very early 7.45am draw meant I had to make a 90-mile round trip for my bait on Friday, which with current fuel prices made my casters rather expensive!

Into the bag of dreams and I pulled out peg 23 on Warren. Of course the bigger Lambsdown Lake was everyone’s tip to win the £5k, so I was slightly disappointed. But on the flip side I really like Warren Pool and felt I’d get plenty of bites with an outside chance of framing, so long as the carp behaved.

Well the lake has fished better than any of us expected with silverfish everywhere. I’ve had a bite a chuck all day to weigh 48lb for 3rd overall and a very nice £1,000 cheque!

I pretty much used one rig all day and caught on maggots, worms and pellets with Sonubaits F1 Dark and Supercrush Expander.

Well done Steve Forster winning the match and £5,000 top prize with an excellent 57lb from peg 19 on Lambsdown and also Sam Collett finishing runner up with 53lb. What an incredible day’s fishing and I still can’t believe how well it’s fished. What a venue!
