Coaching Kick Off!

My 2020 coaching sessions kicked off in fine style today with plenty of bites at Bishops Bowl Fishery!

This was an out-and-out pole fishing day with Derek and I tackling Marshes Lake at this excellent venue. There’s a good head of chunky carp in this lake, but it’s also quite snaggy with lots of reeds for the fish to dive through, so you have to be alert when you hook a fish!

I suggested starting against the reeds with bread for any rogue carp hanging around. This proved a great decision with seven carp in seven put ins and not one lost fish. A cracking start!

We then moved out into open water to fine tune a few techniques, catching best on sweetcorn over pellet at 13 metres, but neither of us could resist catching a couple more of those bread fish before calling it a day.

It was a refreshingly good day, especially for January, and I must say a big thanks to Bishops Bowl Fishery for having us. This venue is well worth a visit if you want some bites this winter.
