Back In The Golden Rod Final!

I fished the final qualifier for the Golden Rod Final at Larford Lakes yesterday… and qualified!

It fished really hard on my side of Speci Lake as it’s not seen much bait since the floods, but I won the 20-angler zone with 20lb 12oz of bream and skimmers on the feeder. After two hours I was probably last on the lake, but my positive tactics paid off as I netted some nice big bream and the peg got stronger and stronger.

I won’t go into too much detail as the two-day Final is only next weekend, but tackle wise I used my favourite Horizon XS Slim 3.3m rods, Horizon X 3000 reels loaded with 8lb Horizon mono and swapped between the new 20g Matrix Standard Cage Feeders and an Open Alloy Method Feeder. I also used a bag of fishery micros glugged in the new Dynamite F1 Sweet Sticky Pellet Syrup and green Milled Expander.

Chuffed to get in the Final two years on the trot. Hopefully I can get a bit nearer to that £10,000 winner’s cheque this time!
