First Fish Fun At Docklow Pools

I thoroughly enjoyed teaching Matteo and Noah how to fish this week! We visited the beautiful Docklow Pools in Herefordshire and it was a perfect venue.

Fishing close in with maggots, pellets and worms, Noah’s very first fish was a greedy gudgeon and Matteo’s first fish was a pretty little perch. Lots more followed, including bream, skimmers, quality roach and hybrids. Great fun on float tackle!

A few telltale swirls meant a big fish or two were getting curious and, sure enough, we soon hooked into one of Docklow Pool’s famous carp! The first one got the better of us, but the next two were not so crafty. Each one gave us an epic fight. A team effort was definitely required as all three of us worked together before finally scooping them up in the landing net!

Matteo and Noah were great fun and an absolute pleasure to teach. They picked things up really fast and I think they’ve now well and truly got the fishing bug!

I must say a huge thanks to everyone at Docklow Pools for having us. This session reminded me why it’s one of my all-time favourite venues!
