Bagging Mode!

Here’s an album from a really enjoyable day on the bank with Gary Rodgers at Tunnel Barn Farm. It was a typical March day weatherwise; strong winds, then sunshine, then getting pelted by hail. Lovely stuff!

We found a slightly more sheltered area on High Pool with pellet fishing our main aim. Plumbing up I was surprised how little depth there was compared to my last visit and with no bites after 10 minutes I feared a difficult day ahead. However, all of a sudden they arrived and it went from being devoid to solid in no time!

It then became really interesting sussing out the best feeding ploy in the deeper water. Once they were feeding I knew we’d sack up down the margins, too, although finding the right depth on the steep slope was vital.

As the fishing got better and better I had a feeling they’d come shallow. They certainly did that! I was soon dusting off my jigger and dibber rigs and by the end of the session Gary had F1s boiling 12 inches deep! Exceptional fishing for March and it’s really got me looking forward to some proper springtime bagging!

Thanks as always to Tunnel Barn Farm for having us. I must also add a special thanks to Gary’s partner for the packed lunch. It wasn’t just the fish that had a proper feed!
