A cracking weekend’s fishing!
Yesterday I was on the Angling Trust Silverfish qualifier at Bishops Bowl. It’s fished much harder than expected and my 17lb effort was actually 2nd on White Bishop and 2nd overall with Steve Hemingray winning the zone and match with 21lb.
I caught best on maggot over the new Dynamite Swim Stim Silverfish Betaine Green with a bit of black Milled Expander. Two small tench, one 1lb+ skimmer and lots of little skimmers.
Steve showed his class and snared some quality skimmers late to secure the win. Such a shame the place switched off as it’s normally a great venue for skimmers, bream and tench.
Today I’ve been on the sold-out open at Tunnel Barn Farm, split between New and Extension. I was really disappointed when Sarah drew me peg 38 on New Pool as I don’t like the peg and thought Extension would take all the prizes!
I drew the same peg over a month ago and it was rubbish and I expected it to be worse today, especially after three consecutive matches on the lake, no wind and clear water. Well what do I know, as I won the match with 77lb!
I caught some really big F1s to 4lb and carp to 7lb. Started cautiously on pellet, then swapped to maggot and then had a great run on bread. Still a bit shocked to be honest, but two very nice pickups nonetheless! It definitely feels like winter has arrived early and it’s already carp bingo time!
